With an integrated reading curriculum that includes conflict resolution, problem solving and social action, HYPE helps scholars build self-efficacy and confidence in their learning abilities.
HYPE Freedom School, Inc. integrates the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools literacy-based model which includes strength-based approaches and Trust-based Relational Intervention (TBRI) for ensuring that programming is trauma-informed, inclusive and specifically focused on youth with social and economic disadvantages.
This research-informed framework provides an optimal 6 weeks (Monday-Friday) summer learning environment well as during the school-year. Upon completion of the summer program, all scholars are eligible to continue receiving support services, which include literacy-based learning experiences, support groups, community service, mental health counseling, family engagement, and referrals to community resources.
